LSAT's analytical reasoning section seems at first glance as an alien section of the LSAT in terms of relevance to skills required from those who wish to engage in law studies; While the logical reasoning and reading comprehension sections require argumentation, careful inspection of premises and assumptions and other tasks that are closely related to a lawyer's daily job requirements, the analytical reasoning section seems like an algorithm that should be given at a computer science entry level course's first week.

This is of course not case, and there is a reason for placing this tough section in the LSAT, as it examines problem solving skills, the abilty to construct facts and limitations into diagrams and patterns, data gatheing and application, and more. See a sample analytical reasoning question
