The GMAT quantitative section relies on a number of high school-level math topics, presented in two question formats. Some fields are trivial; others would probably require a thorough review. While the basic knowledge required for this section merely consists of mathematical concepts and topics introduced in high school, it turns into a complicated, time pressured task. Add to this the adaptive aspect of the test, which introduces questions according to your specific answering pattern, and here's a recipe to a tough and mind boggling test section.
Math fields presented in the test- Arithmetic: Basic mathematical operations, ratios and percents. The properties of common number groups; odds & evens, primality, divisibility rules, factoring, remainders, arithmetic sets.
- Statistics & probability: Averages, medians, variance, S.D and combinatory.
- Elementary algebra: Including expressions, powers and roots, different types of equations, inequalities, and basic functions.
- Basic geometry: Including two and three dimensional polygons, circles, and analytic geometry.
