Medical School requirements
Each American or Canadian accredited medical school holds an admission process which, among other selection criteria, requires you to present your GPA and valid MCAT score. On average, most medical schools look for applicants with MCAT scores of 30 and above, and GPA of at least 3.3. This statement is of course very crude, since many factors can change individual application forms.
How to get this information from medical schools? Most schools hold information about class profiles, in which you can actually see the stats of enrolled students from last year, together with average GPAs and MCAT scores. Simply go to the institude's admission pages, and look under admission requirements and process.
MCAT scores and GPA - a short listing of school's class profiles
Listed below is relevant information from eight universities across the U.S. and Canada, showing the average GPA and MCAT scores of first year students who applied and qualified in 2010. It is merely a way of adapting into the overall requisites held by meidcal schools. In this list we have not deliberately picked entries from what are considered to be top medical colleges, but rather chose a coast to coast overview.
