In order to understand your ESL essay score, you first need to understand how it is scored. The ESL essay portion of the Accuplacer exam is given a holistic score on a scale from 0 to 6. The essay section requires you to write a 300-600 word response to any given question. The purpose of the ESL essay is to assess your ability to write an on-demand English essay.
