All our sample tests are designed to adhere to the content conventions of the original exam.

[1] If the words below were arranged to make the best sentence, with which letter would the first word of the sentence begin.

[2]Read the problem to yourself and mark your answer. Which is the correct answer?

[3] What number comes next in the series?

Answers

[1] Choice 3; The correct answer is the letter "T". The sentence reads: "Tasmanian devils are renowned for their viciousness."

[2] Choice 5; The correct answer is runways. All airports must have runways. Without runways, airplanes cannot land and take off. Airports do not always have lounges, restaurants, bars, or clothing stores.

[3] Choice 1; The correct answer is 29. In this series, each number is greater than the previous number by 1 more than the previous difference. The pattern is:+1, +2, +3, +4, .... The last 2 numbers in the series are 16 and 22. 22 is greater than 16 by 6. The next number should be larger than 22 by 7 (which is 1 more than the previous difference of 6). [...16, 16+6=22, 22+7=29, ...] Therefore, 29 is the correct answer.

OLSAT Test Format

The OLSAT Level F contains 72 questions (36 verbal and 36 nonverbal). Students are provided with 60 minutes to complete the OLSAT Test, which means less than one minute per question on average. Therefore, practice is very important, as practice is the best way to improve speed.

Most commonly, the OLSAT Level F is administered in writing. Schools all over the country use the OLSAT as an admission test into the gifted and talented programs.

Tips for Strengthening OLSAT Scores

  • Help your child work individually. While it is important that you be available for questions, your child needs to practice individually as well, because you will not be present during the real test. Go through a few questions with your child, then let him or her continue without you and only come back if they need you for something specific.
  • Explanations are important. TestPrep-Online provides full explanations for all questions. Remind your child not to skip the explanation, even if he or she answers the question correctly. That is because the explanation may contain important details and tools for other questions of the same type. It is always a good idea to read additional examples, and it is always important to not only know the correct answer, but be able to explain why it is correct.
  • Make sure you and your child know as much as possible about the test. Read through the relevant pages on this website, including our FAQ page. Knowledge is power - the more your child knows what to expect, the more confident he or she will be.
  • Talk to your child's teachers. Remember your child's teachers know how he or she is doing at school and what he or she needs more help with. Plenty of useful information can be learned from a quick chat with the teachers.
  • Encourage your child to focus on his or her weaknesses. It is very important to cover all topics, even those your child finds easy. However, it is necessary to put a special emphasis on the topics your child finds more challenging. Make sure he or she solves all the questions and reads through all the explanations from those topics.
  • Provide your child with nutritious food. Studies have shown a strong connection between eating well and achieving good academic results. Make sure your child eats vegetables, fruit, and complex carbohydrates. Try to avoid sweets, which cause the sugar levels to rise and then quickly plummet, along with your child's concentration. Put a special emphasis on breakfast, which is particularly important.
  • Make sure your child gets enough sleep. Students who get enough sleep have an easier time concentrating and achieve better results at school. Therefore, studying until late at night is probably inefficient, and getting a good night's sleep, especially on the night before the exam, is crucial.
