What Is the TEAS Science Test?
The ATI Nursing Science Test is one of the most difficult sections for many test takers. As one of the largest topic areas, with a lot of material to cover, mastering the Science section requires patience and perseverance.
The TEAS Science Test is a section within the exam focused on three science topics. Of all the sections of the ATI TEAS exam, Science is one of the largest, worth 31% of the exam.
The section comprises 51 questions to be answered in just over an hour (63 minutes). The ATI TEAS Science section is comprised of three topics:
- Human Anatomy & Physiology, (18 items, 40% of the Science section)
- Biology, (9 items, 20% of the Science section)
- Chemistry, (9 items, 20% of the Science section)
- Scientific Reasoning (9 items, 20% of the Science section)
- An additional 6 items are included as pretest items

Carbon-14, a radioactive isotope, has 8 neutrons; this can be deduced from the isotope's mass number (14), which is the number protons and neutrons.

Scurvy is the disease caused by vitamin C deficiency. Vitamin C is found in fresh fruit and vegetables. Therefore, scurvy used to be highly prevalent in sailors, whose diets lacked fresh produce. Beriberi is a disease caused by vitamin B1 deficiency. Since Vitamin B1 is abundant in whole rice, meat, and legumes, Beriberi is prevalent is certain areas in Asia where the diet is composed primarily of white rice.
Anemia is a disease caused by a red blood cell (RBC) deficiency or by a hemoglobin deficiency. Such deficiencies can be the result of malnutrition, infections, genetic diseases, and more.
