CAT4 Level X Sample Questions

CAT4 Level X Test Sample Question 1 - Figures

Choose the answer that shares the same connection/characteristic as the three given images:

A.
B.
C.
D.
E.

Answer

The correct answer is (A).

The three images are identical black and white cars with three windows, one headlight and one taillight, and two door handles. However, the three cars have one difference: Each has a different design on its wheel. The first is round, the second is a narrow oval, and the third is a star. The only option that presents an identical type of black and white car with a different design on its wheels is answer (A) that has a fishbone design on its wheels. Therefore, it is the correct answer.

Answer (B) is incorrect because, although the design of the car is very similar to the three given images, the car is black. In addition, the car doesn’t have a headlight, a taillight, and door handles (since it is all black, these details cannot be seen).

Answers (C), (D), and (E) are incorrect because they present cars of different models. In addition, the car in answer (C) has a rounded roof and the overall shape of the car, the car in answer (D) is black, has only 2 windows, and you cannot see the headlight, the taillight, and the two door handles (since it is all black, these details cannot be seen). The car in answer (E) is a smaller car, has only two windows, and one door handle.

CAT4 Level X Test Sample Question 2 - Figures

Choose the answer that shares the same connection/characteristic as the three given images:

A.
B.
C.
D.
E.

Answer

The correct answer is (A).

All three figures are frames that contain several items: four clouds, a sun, two black butterflies, two hills and two plants with leaves. Pay attention to the growing number of the plants’ leaves; in the first frame, the plant has three leaves, in the second frame four leaves, and in the last frame five leaves. Therefore, the next frame should contain all the items and a plant with six leaves. Answer (A) is correct because it follows these rules. It contains four clouds, a sun, two black butterflies, two hills and two plants with six leaves.

Answer (B) is incorrect because it contains two white butterflies, and since plant has two black leaves (out of its six leaves).

Answer (C) is incorrect because the plant has two black leaves (out of its six leaves).

Answer (D) is incorrect because it contains two white butterflies.

Answer (E) is incorrect because it contains two white butterflies, and since plant has only three leaves.

CAT4 Level X Test Sample Question 1 - Words

                                  crayon   eraser   scissors

A. watch
B. hairbrush
C. pencil
D. bicycle
E. toaster

Answer

Look at the top row. All the items in the top row are school supplies. Therefore, the correct answer should be a similar item. Answer (C)-  a pencil is correct because it is the only answer that is related to school supplies; it is commonly used by students for school work.

Answers (A)-  a watch and (B)- a hairbrush are incorrect because they are not school supplies.

Answer (D)- the bicycle is incorrect because it is a mode of transportation and is not not considered a school supply.

Answer (E) - a toaster is incorrect because a toaster has no relevance to school supplies. It is a kitchen appliance used for toasting bread.

CAT4 Level X Test Sample Question 2 - Words

Choose the word that belongs in the same group as the first three words:

                                plantation   orchard   vineyard

A. field
B. tree
C. bush
D. flowerbed
E. farm

Answer

The correct answer is A- “field".

The three words: “plantation”, “orchard” and “vineyard” are specific places where specific crops* are grown.

A plantation is the place where crops like bananas, cotton, coffee and sugar cane are grown.

An orchard is the place where fruit trees like peaches, pears, apples and oranges are grown.

A vineyard is a place where grapes are grown.

Answer (A)- ‘field is the correct answer because it is also a place where specific crops are grown. For example: potatoes, corn, cauliflower, carrots etc.

Answers (B) and (C) are incorrect because, although some fruits grow on trees and bushes, these answers are not specific places or locations dedicated to growing crops like the first three words.

Answer (D)- “flowerbed” is incorrect because it is commonly found in gardens for landscaping and is not used to grow crops.

Answer (E)- “farm” is incorrect because it is not exclusively used for growing crops, as some animals are grown on the farm.

* Crops are plants that are grown by people for different purposes. These plants could be things like fruits, vegetables, grains, or even plants used to make things like cotton for clothes. People grow crops on farms and in gardens.

The Importance of Preparing for the CAT4 Exam

The CAT4 assessment's distinctive question layout and strict time constraints might appear quite daunting to some students. Engaging in proper preparation before the exam can help alleviate some of the pressure and anxiety that frequently accompany unfamiliar tests.

Becoming acquainted with the intricate test structure and diverse question formats can enhance your child's confidence and provide them with a much greater sense of ability when confronting challenges during the actual test.

How to Make Sure Your Child is Prepared for Test Day?

Considering that the CAT4 doesn't rely on past experiences or prior academic knowledge, the most effective way to prepare is by using practice tests to familiarize your child with the test's requirements.

Similar to many cognitive assessments, the CAT4 follows consistent patterns. Gaining an understanding of these patterns and practicing with sample questions that simulate the actual test format can greatly enhance your child's potential for achieving a higher score.
