SCAT Test: Getting Started with CTY

Step-by-step registration process:

  • Create a MyCTY account on the CTY website.
  • Pay the membership fee ($50 for U.S. students, $60 for international students). This is a one-time fee that supports CTY's initiatives.
  • Establish eligibility for most CTY courses. This can be done in one of two ways:
  • Register to take a CTY-administered above-grade-level assessment such as the School and College Ability Test (SCAT) (available online and traditionally), the PSAT™ 8/9, or the Spatial Test Battery.
  • Upload qualifying scores from a list of accepted standardized tests. Accepted tests include ACT Aspire, CogAT, Iowa Assessments, MAP Growth, PSAT, SAT, and many others. To qualify with existing scores, students generally need to have scored at the 98th percentile or higher for their grade level or achieve a score equivalent to two or more grade levels above their current grade in specific test domains. Score reports should be dated after July 1, 2017, and clearly show the student's name and test name.

Once eligibility is established, students can enroll in their desired courses.

Review specific program descriptions and prerequisites to ensure a good match.
For guidance on the initial steps, you can also refer to the "Get Started" section on the CTY website.
